KOTA KINABALU: The Society for Sabah heart Fund (SOSHF) as to date, has sponsored and sent 686 children for corrective heart surgeries since its inception in 1981.
SOSHF vice president, Datuk Eva Susau, aid up to October this year, four young patients had been sent for corrective heart surgeries in Kuala Lumpur and three more are scheduled to go before end of this year depending on the situations.
“The programme for medical treatment to South Korea has been put on halt for this year and we will look at it again when things get better next year,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Meanwhile, Eva said the SOSHF also hoped the society’s hope to acquire a small piece f land for the construction of a half-way home would materialise soon so as to serve the patients and escorts better.
She said this proposed project had long been overdue and the need was becoming more and more pressing as hostels at the hospital were limited to accommodate the many patients from outstation.
